🎓 Testing Season Is Coming…Here’s Something That’ll Help!

⏰ TL;DR

👋 REAL TALK

Last week, I got the incredible opportunity to do a collaboration with Google.

Yeah, THAT Google.

(Cue slow-mo walk-in to the tune of “Still Fly” by Big Tymers 😂) jkjk but for real, it was awesome and I’m legit honored.

And from the outside, that seems pretty dope, right?

“Oh my gosh, you got paid to make a one-minute video? That’s like… five minutes of work uR sO LuCkyyyy!” 😂

But here’s what people don’t see…

The reason they even reached out or even knew I existed is because I made (literally) THOUSANDS of videos about Google…for free.

No one asked me to.
No one sponsored them.
No one guaranteed anything would ever come from it.

I made them because (a) I wanted to help teachers (b) because I wanted to sharpen my own skills, and (c) so when I walked in to do a training at a school, I had something tangible teachers could actually use even after I left.

For years, there was no “collab.”
No recognition.
No big moment.

Just small deposits.

And that’s where we are right now in the school year, isn’t it?

We’re in the dog days.
Testing season is looming.
Spring break feels farther away than an Aaron Judge home run.
Summer break is visible…but like…kaleidoscope visible (aka there, but doesn’t feel real).

Remember tho, you’re planting seeds every single day.

You review one concept.
You reteach one skill.
You encourage one kid who looks completely checked out.

You’re making tiny investments that might peak during testing season…

Or might not show up until next year.

Or five years from now.

Or maybe you’ll never even see the fruit of it at all.

And just because you don’t get the “Google collab call” equivalent in your classroom, doesn’t mean the work doesn’t matter.

The work has value because it is valuable.

Keep planting.
Keep watering.
Keep going.

🛠️ Tech Tip

📚 Gemini + Gmail = ⏰ Saved (w/o Sounding Like a 🤖)

Two features I’ve been loving inside Gmail enough to put them on a viddie for Google Workspace:

1️⃣ Help Me Write and 2️⃣ Suggest & Reply

I’m not gonna do my usual text walkthrough cause I selfishly want you to click the video (and make like + comment) so they don’t regret collabing with me 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

💎 Gem/GPT of the Week

Arkansas Atlas Test Prep ➡️ Gemini // Make a Copy // ChatGPT

I built this after doing a training last week for Newport Schools (s/o to my girl, Smart Nancy, fellow doctorate cohort grad)!

While I was there, some teachers told me:

“We’re already teaching the lesson…we just need a faster way to turn it into a couple of ATLAS-style practice questions.”

Boom.

The Arkansas ATLAS Test Prepper takes your current lesson, and automatically generates practice questions aligned to ATLAS-style expectations.

If you’re in Arkansas and using ATLAS, you’re good to go!

If you’re not in Arkansas, Click “Make a Copy” then Edit it to your state’s test (OR) reply to this email with your state + a little context, and I’ll try to build one for you and your state!

(OR) if you want me to come hang out at your school and build one specifically for your team…you know I’m down! 🙌
