🎓 Free AI Teacher Playbook, Canva Hack, & 3 PD Hours This Week!

⏰ TL;DR

👋 REAL TALK

Just got back from a conference in Amarillo today.

Met some incredible educators! I’m talkin the kind of people bringing the excitement for self-improvement in the face of a quickly narrowing summer break!

And ya know what hit me?

Teachers are out here living parallel lives.

Same joys, same stress, same Untitled Google Docs open at 11:47 PM.

But it’s easy to forget that when you’re mid-year and all alone in your room, doing 1,000 jobs with 1 brain and a bathroom break every 6 hours.

That’s one of the many reasons I love summer conferences.

They remind me…we’re not siloed.

We’re part of a massive, messy, brilliant network of brilliant people who signed up to help kids and somehow keep our own lives together outside of 4pm.

Similar struggles.

Similar wins.

Just different classrooms.

So this week, reach out to a teacher friend.

Send a meme.

Share a resource.

Or just say, “Yo fam, I see you.”

Sometimes (even whilst basking in our summer break) it’s a nice little reminder, we’re not alone in this.

Much love,
-Tyler

📥 THE DROP

Quick wins, free tools, and classroom-ready ideas I’d forward a teacher BFF to save time and teach even better!

This is a comprehensive lil doc that follows perfectlyyyyy with the The AI Teacher Playbook Summit (Honor Roll peeps can still watch on demand), butttttt I made this playbook to be usable for anyone who wants it! 🛠️ Tech Tip

Y’all know Canva already GOATED.

But here’s a little activity you can do with your students using their Background Remover!

How your students can put themselves in History!

Showed some teachers this today and they were pretty excited, so this is me virtually parlaying that excitement to you (my teacher bff)!

⏳ Time Saver

Institute a time-saving way to record student discipline next year! Make a copy of this Student Self-Recording Discipline Form and edit it to make it what YOU want!

Then stick that sucker in your LMS of choice and send them there when they actin a fool in class next year!

🧪 Hack of the Week

Brisk.

That’s it.

That’s the hack.

BEST GOOGLE CHROME EXTENSION I’VE EVER USED EVER IN EDUCATION EVER!

Here’s just one of the MANY things it can do to help your students understand difficult concepts!

👨‍🔬 LEARNING LAB

A few lil chicken nuggets I’ve been learning, lol-ing, or lowkey stealing ideas from (and you can, too)!

🎥 Video I Liked

Dr. Adam Grant (phenomenal author btw) sat down with Hank Green (phenomenal YouTuber btw) and we got this lovely lil clip!

Don’t wanna click away cause you a reader not a watcher?

I’ll sum it up:

It’s okay to try something new without knowing the outcome.

Or as 90’s t-shirts put it…no fear. 😁

💬 Quote I’m Loving

“People are remarkably open to criticism when they believe it’s intended to help them.”
Adam Grant

Staying on the Grant-Train for this one.

Reminds me of my fav James Comer quote we used to ask in interviews:

No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship.

You spend so much time caring and pouring into others.

Reflect and reach out to someone you know is trying to pour into you!

🤖 Prompt of the Week

“Based on what you (ChatGPT) know about me as a teacher and a person, what are 3 things I could do this summer that will genuinely give me life, joy, and energy? Not just professionally, but personally as well.”

📚 Tarver Book Club

Might as well finish off the Adam Grant trifecta…

(imho) Hidden Potential isn’t just another “rah rah” book go team goodie goodie book, but I think it’s legit gold for teachers.

It flips the script on success.

How it’s not about being the smartest in the room, but about building the habits and systems that help people grow.

As a teacher, it’ll remind you why we don’t just teach what students need to know, we help them believe who they have the potential to become something great.

It’s like a pep talk for your brain and your classroom.

So I guess a lil “rah-rah,” but just the right lil Goldilocks amount. 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

✌️Epilogue

Whether you’re running PD, rewriting that syllabus, or watching Netflix with a side of existential dread, remember this:

You’re not the only one juggling flaming curriculum torches with that beautiful courtesy smile shining.

We’re all in this together (cue HS musical) and I’m proud to be in your corner.

💌 Never Stop Learning!

-Dr. Tyler Tarver

🎯 P.S. Remember if you wanna scour my free resources and make a copy of something and then change it and then out your name/school on it and then share it with your team/school, now’s the time to do it!

For real, no need to give me credit.

In the words of Maximus Decimus Meridius…

Take it…IT’S YOURS!! 😂
