We just moved into our fifth house in six years.
Lemme tell you something I already knew but somehow forget every single time: moving. is. THE. WORST. 😂
There’s always that moment where your whole life is in boxes and you can’t find your toothbrush, one shoe, or the charger that apparently powers your life. Everything feels temporary while also somehow taking for-ev-errrr (sandlot style).
And honestly? Teachers are kinda in the same season right now.
Teachers be movin too.
Moving classrooms.
Moving bulletin boards.
Moving that podium from the retired teacher’s room like it’s the final scene in National Treasure 😂
You’re closing the door on another year. Another group of students. Another version of yourself as an educator.
and for me, that was always weirdly emotional every single year.
Cause while there’s excitement for summer naps, no alarms, and pretending you’ll finally organize your Google Drive (shoutout Untitled document squad)…there’s also anticipation. New students. New stories. New opportunities to impact young people who don’t even know yet how much they’ll need you.
But first?
Chill.
The moving phase is over.
Take a breath. Chill. Relax. Watch a show. Touch grass. Ignore your email for a lil bit. Your brain and body need recovery just as much as your classroom needs fresh butcher paper.
(Except when you’re in virtual summer PDs with me. Then we LOCK INNNN 😂)
