πŸ‘‹ REAL TALK

The first time I presented at a conference, I was more terrified than a Blair Witch cast member.

I was maybe two months into being a tech director, and suddenly I was standing in front of superintendents and district leaders teaching a session on iTunesU (rest in peace 😁😒).

So I thought I’d play the fun/casual card.

I had everyone introduce themselves. Tell where they were from. Share their favorite movie.

For twenty-two minutes.

In an eighty-minute session.

Looking back, they had to be thinking, "Broseph Stalin, I didn't come here to make friends, I came to learn something."

And they were right.

I eventually learned that great presentations aren't just about making people comfortable, they're about adding people value.

So this summer, as you chillin in your summer trainings, let’s give presenters a little grace. Some of them are doing this for the first time. Some of them are absolutely terrified like you were your first day teaching.

If they make eye contact with you while they're stumbling through a slide, give them the universal educator gift:

The PD courtesy smile.

You know the one. The fake-yet-supportive smile that says, "You're struggling, but I'm rooting for you."

Cause we are!

And then just get back to checking your emails πŸ˜‚ Hope your summer is AMAZING and FUN!! πŸ™Œ

Student Interest Personal Tutor ➑️ Gemini // Copy // ChatGPT

This GPT is like having a VERY patient, personalized tutor that actually knows what your students care about. Students can paste in content they're learning, choose whether they're studying for a test, a project, or just trying to understand a topic, then share a few lil interests (sports, gaming, animals, music, etc.). Thennnn the GEM/GPT takes that information and explains concepts in ways that connect to what they already like! It can create a study guide with key ideas, vocab, practice questions, common mistakes, or switch into tutor mode where it teaches one question at a time and coaches students through mistakes instead of just giving answers!

My fav part? It doesn't do the work for students: it helps them understand the work. Match them interests with content, that’s always a DUB!
