👨‍🍳 One Template, Two Quotes, and a Whole Lotta Teacher Mojo 😂

⏰ TL;DR

👋 REAL TALK

Testing season has us all feeling like we’re running a marathon barefoot, uphill, in the heat, with 8 inches of snow, all with a backpack full of Chromebooks (none of which are charged). 😂

But you know what?

You’re still showing up. You’re walking the aisles. Dodging the backpacks. Still caring about dem kids. Still building something that matters.

So pause and remember: you’re the kind of teacher future students will tell their kids about.

Let’s finish strong and rock out like Jimmy Eat World circa 2005.

Much love and you got this!

📥 THE DROP

Quick wins, free tools, and classroom-ready ideas I’d forward a teacher BFF to save time and teach even better!

🧩 Template of the Week

Summer PD Notes Template – Organize what you’re learning this summer before it evaporates from your brain like a snow cone in Arkansas humidity! HACK: Share with your team and/or admin so they can reap the spoils of your learning (and see you’re actually doing something)!

🛠️ Tech Tip

Have Canva Magic Write in YOUR Voice – When you use AI to generate things, it sounds like Rosey from The Jetsons wrote it for you. Copy/paste your content so it sounds like you!

Canva > Doc > Magic Write > Dropdown > Create New Voice!

⏳ Time Saver

How to Set up Your Gmail (the best way) – Quick little viddie on how to set up your Gmail in the most efficient way possible. Going into the summer is a great time to get that mug cleaned up like an Outkast song! #sofreshandsocleanclean

🧪 Hack of the Week

After testing, search the web for flipped classroom content. If you’re not doing a ton of flipped stuff, this is a FANTASTIC time to try it out. 1. Find a video, 2. Assign that as homework, 3. They take notes on the video, 4. They do the assignment during class with you walking around helping! FLIP THAT LIKE A GAME OF BOP-IT!

👨‍🔬 LEARNING LAB

A few lil chicken nuggets I’ve been learning, lol-ing, or lowkey stealing ideas from (and you can, too)!

🎥 Video I Liked

Tony Robbins on Consistency - This made me think about the reps that you and your students put in every day.

For the Students: It is not just a audible retention of information until you get a lightbulb, it is a gradual on-ramp to full understanding.

For Teachers: It made me think about how you hone your skills for communication and building rapport every single day, so that you can continually get better at your craft!

Also, I love Steph Curry. 😂

💬 Quote I’m Loving

“Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger.” – Norman Vincent Peale

A banger reminder to focus on what you can control, and that’s ourselves! You’ll also be amazed at the amount of extra time you’ll free up not dancing around other people’s problems!

🤖 Prompt of the Week

“Based on my current teaching style, strengths, and struggles, what are 3 skills I should focus on developing this summer? For each, suggest a free or low-cost way to build that skill—like books, courses, podcasts, or creative projects. Here are my biggest frustrations as a teacher: [insert your biggest frustrations here]”

📚 Tarver Book Club

The Inner Game of Tennis by W. Timothy Gallwey
Gallwey says your brain’s got two selves: one’s the overthinking micromanager, and the other’s the chill, muscle-memory baller. You hit your stride (aka flow) when you shut up the loud one and let the quiet one cook! 👨‍🍳

Here’s a quick video of me processing how you can apply this!
